CBM Solutions Introduces Eco-Cube Farm: 'Growing What We Need Close To Where We Live'
May 2014

Built on the concept of 'growing what we need close to where we live', the Eco-Cube Farm is a first-of-its-kind, commercial hydroponic miniature greenhouse in the residential sector of Singapore. Cultivating seasonal vegetables through energy-saving artificial lighting, the Eco-Cube Farm was launched in May 2014 at the show flat of the Coco Palms Condominium.

Each Eco-Cube Farm is a compact hydroponic unit designed to plant all-season vegetables with minimum maintenance, in a controlled environment. Its cooling system maintain the ideal cultivating ambience and LED lights mimic sunlight to stimulate rapid plant growth.

The size of Eco-Cube Farm can be customised according to various space requirements. The smallest unit is suitable for installation in residential properties and offices, whilst the bigger units, with sizes ranging up to that of a car park lot, would be suitable for community eco-gardens and schools.

By growing vegetables close to where they are consumed, it reduces the need for vehicular transportation, thus cutting down on the carbon emissions generated by the vehicles, reaping an additional environmental benefit.

Mr Roy Chiang, CEO of CBM, said: "Eco-Cube Farm provides a convenient solution to green-fingered residents to plant and harvest their own fresh vegetables free of pesticides close to their homes. Its farming method is easy to understand and learn. Families can enjoy the activity together and we believe this will help foster better communications and build stronger relationships between parents and children. Parents can also inculcate the value of healthy eating and an appreciation for nature in their children."

Ingensys Electronic Parking System Implemented at HDB Carpark
March 2014

Ingensys Pte Ltd, in collaboration with CBM Parking, has implemented its first customised full Electronic Parking System (EPS) in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) carpark in March 2014. Prior to this HDB carpark, Ingensys EPS systems were installed only at commercial carparks at Central Mall, Katong Shopping Centre, Pantech 21, Queensway Shopping Centre and Tagore 23 Warehouse.

Since 2013, Ingensys had developed its EPS system to be suitable for implementation at both commercial and HDB carparks. This system has both new and other non-standard features.

The Emergency Remote Access function, the first-of-its-kind in the market, is able to remotely resolve issues resulting from failure of the terminal station. The Emergency Access Software Module in the control centre can open and lock up the barrier, initiate a hard reset to the terminal station, and unlock and lower the barrier when the terminal station is fully functional again. This feature will significantly reduce the delay to motorists caught in such situations, as well as shorten the recovery time without the need to deploy a staff to service the affected terminal station.

Mr Jason Koh, General Manager of Ingensys Pte Ltd, said: "I am pleased that our EPS system has passed all of HDB's stringent requirements within a very short time frame. We had successfully developed the HDB Batch and Online Interface Modules to connect with the HDB carpark administration server, where tens of thousands of season parking records are updated live daily. More importantly, the system has achieved a 99.2% success rate for the 4-second transaction time of each vehicle, which exceeds the target set by HDB."
